Welcome Back to the Black Mountain Golf Course
Our back 9 is now open!
We're excited to announce the phased reopening of the historic Black Mountain Golf Course as we continue recovery efforts following Tropical Storm Helene. Thanks to the dedicated staff, repairs have been completed, and play is resuming starting with the back 9 only.
Progress so far:
The Town has invested more than $135,000 in repairing the golf course. This is more financial investment in the recovery effort than any other aspect of recovery other than search and rescue and critical infrastructure.
Back Nine Open for Play in Mid-June
Culvert & Cart Path Repairs
Irrigation System Restored
Pro Shop Renovations
What's Ahead:
Repairs to the golf cart barn, cart paths and bridges on the front nine will be underway in a few months. The Town is waiting for obligation of funds for this work.
Soon, a temporary building will be onsite to house equipment. This building will be reimbursed by FEMA.
The golf maintenance building was substantially damaged and located within a regulatory non-encroachment zone. It must be demolished and relocated in compliance with FEMA standards. This work is underway and fully reimbursable under federal disaster assistance.
New leased equipment is beginning to roll in, allowing us to open our back 9 and keep it properly maintained. Due to months without irrigation, equipment or ability to spray, our greens will take time to recover and get back to their standard quality. Please be patient and realize this is what recovery from a major storm looks like.
Thank you for your patience and support.
We can’t wait to welcome you back to the course. More updates will be made available on this page and the golf course Facebook page. Tee times will be made available 1 week ahead of play online and can be made by calling in on June 18th, 19th and 23rd between 9am and 5pm. After we reopen on the 24th, normal pro shop hours will resume daily from 7:30 to 5:30.
